I adored this tool and used it on a regular basis. However, I am not a professional and only work on my own cars and other miscellaneous items. The ratchet pawls failed after approximately 6 months of use, and this thing now requires “all of its clicks” in order to turn the socket.
The battery clips are another item that is prone to failure.
Because of the force applied to the battery by the wrench (which is similar to a standard socket wrench), the battery clips break off, allowing the battery to fall out of its socket.
You’re probably not supposed to pull on the battery, aren’t you.
I really tried not to do it, I really did.
The problem is that the little battery clips are so small that they will break if you pull on it for too long.
As a result, I had to tape the battery in place. After that, every time I want to remove the battery to charge it, I have to peel tape off of it.
In this configuration (taped and with skipping ratchet pawls), I used the tool for quite some time…
Then it just stopped working altogether.
It no longer performs any function.
Is $87 too much to pay for a tool that will only last about 6 months.
It’s most likely a reasonable price.
But now that I’m hooked on battery ratchets, I’m going to buy another one, but this time I’ll look for a brand that professionals use and pay the premium.
This unit would be suitable for extremely light duty.
I’m not sure what it is, but I’m not working on automobiles..
