For Wet and Dry Polishing, the best way to get the best results is to use polishing pads that have been soaked in water.
I’ve put the sanding disc on my drill press so I can use it to polish rocks. A lot of time is spent on the coarser grits than the finer ones, and I spend less time on the finer ones. I haven’t used up my 30 grit yet, but I couldn’t get any more. I’ve used the 50 to get where I want to go before moving up. This brand seems to be better and last longer. To be safe, I’ll buy some more different-grit discs. 🙂
