When you were able to cut quickly and easily, do you remember how great that was. The WEN 5-Amp 4-1/2-Inch Mini Circular Saw can do a lot of different things, but it can also be very powerful. Wood, drywall, tile, sheet metal, pipes, and more can all be used with this tool, too. It’s small and lightweight, reducing fatigue while working and making it easy to store between jobs. It weighs only 5.1 pounds. Max torque comes from a 5-amp motor that spins the 4-1/2 inch blade (115mm x 10mm arbor) at 3500 RPM. In order to cut workpieces up to 1-1/8 inches thick, you can either attack the boards or bevel the baseplate. As a bonus, your WEN Compact Circular Saw comes with a 24-tooth carbide-tipped wood cutting blade, a dust extractor tube, and a blow-mold case with storage compartments for all of your tools. In addition, your WEN handheld circular saw comes with a two-year warranty because it’s made by WEN. This is all to make sure that you remember WEN when you use your saw.

The overall fit and assembly looked good when I looked at it. Locking knobs are strong and lock very well. Blade changing was simple and there were no problems. Blade guard works smoothly when starting your cut. It’s now clear why I gave it four stars. At first glance, it was clear that this saw was not going to cut a straight line. The depth level gauge on the base plate was bent at the point where it pivots. This was a simple fix, and now the saw is cutting a clean 90°. If you like gadgets, this saw might be for you. The laser does start at the cutting guide on the base plate and then goes off. This was not why I bought this saw. The owner’s manual doesn’t say how to make changes, and I don’t see any either. From what I’ve seen, it would be best to move the laser assembly. Cut line did not match cutting guide on base plate.

I spent a lot of time looking for a small circular saw to add to my shop, and in general the saw does well. I like how it runs very well, and he gives me more cutting power. The saw will be used occasionally which was my game plan. Coming from the machine tool repair field, I would rate this saw light commercial obviously not for industrial use. This is what I said in my last post. Due to the size and location of the dust port, keep your dust mask out.
