This Mortiser isn’t very good. In the past, I used the WEN 13″ planer and was happy with it. When I decided to get a mortiser, I decided to go with WEN as well. Precision isn’t as good as it should be. In this case, only one side of the chisel bit is being pressed by the set screw that holds it. This causes the bit to come down at a different angle than the drill bit. The gears that drive the handle/head don’t look like they were made with any precision, which makes the machine move vertically while it’s running. In addition, there is a lot of wiggle room in how you connect your fence to the base. This means that you have to keep adjusting and tightening the fence. First, I’ll think about it before I buy another WEN item again.
