First, I bought a chainsaw from WEN, and I’m very happy with both of them.
I use brad nails a lot, and this is my fourth brad nailer. I’ve used two Porter Cables and one Hitachi to get through two more. So I use them a lot and have a lot of good things to compare them to. I tried this nailer out quickly and aggressively, and I think it’s a good one. Read on for my impressions.
I did a quick test with 1.5″ brad nails into a 2″ thick piece of fir. There were no slams and the depth was the same. Watch the video. Neither the gun nor the nails jammed.
Why is this important. The same thing happened when I tried the same thing in the video with a Hitachi brad nailer. I blew out the bottom of the slide when a nail stuck. See the attached picture of the slide that was blown out during a jam. Because the Hitachi had a plastic nail slide and the Wen has an all metal nail slide, I want to talk about this. When the WEN only removes a jam, I feel much better.
Direct the air away from you and your work. See the picture below. For both comfort and to keep extra exhaust oil from getting on a piece of work. Before, I had to cover the head of another nailer with a towel to keep the oily air from coming into my work. So this feature is important, and I’m glad WEN put it in.
It’s great that there are a lot of nails in the window. I can see the nails that are still there with a quick glance.
Soft rubber handle: The handle is very soft and makes it easy to hold. It also protects your hand from the occasional jarring impact when you nail.
It doesn’t work all the time. When I connected my WEN to the air hose, it leaked a lot of air out of the end. When you buy the WEN, it comes with a steel inlet. As you can see in the picture, I changed it out for a brass inlet with a slightly different shape. The connection was then tight and there were no air leaks.
In the end, it’s a great nail gun for a great price. The only thing that was a little off was that there was a little air leak at the end, but it wasn’t enough to keep me from giving it a 5 star review. When I use it for a while, I’ll report back. Take a chance and buy it. You can’t go wrong.
