I have a Craftsman angle grinder that is 4 1/2 inches in diameter and a larger Rigid angle grinder that is 7 inches in diameter. The craftsman arbor is a smaller, less popular size than the standard arbor. This adapter makes it possible for me to use a standard cup brush with my Craftsman without any difficulty. If you intend to use it as a cutting or grinding disc, you will need to purchase a washer and nut combination to go with it in order to keep the disc in place while cutting or grinding.
