I build wood racks and cut oval hand grip holes in the sides. I’ve been looking for a way to shape and smooth the holes with less hand work so I don’t have to do as much.
It worked for me. I bought a set of these. There is only one grit of sandpaper, and it’s too coarse for finishing work. I still need to do a lot of fine work by hand to make the hand grips really smooth.
When I used a sanding tube, I was able to cut out four hand holes with only one 1″ tube. The sanding tube still feels like it could cut more holes. I’ll have more racks coming out next week, so I’ll be able to test them more then.
Easy to put on: The sandpaper is very easy to put on the mandrels. At about 1800 rpm, I ran them through an electric drill with both hands. The sanders did a good enough job of rough shaping.
If they had different grades of sandpaper for them, I would be very happy. For fine work, I need some #150 and would really like some #200 or #220. These would be 5 stars.
