I bought this to help concrete set in 2×4 forms. The vibration wasn’t strong enough to get the job done, but it was enough to get it done. There were some issues with my concrete. I had to mix it a little wetter than I usually do in order for it to settle.

The motor is a permanent split capacitor (PSC) motor, which means it needs a separate capacitor to work. The capacitor must be outside of the motor for it to work. Wire nuts were used to make all of the connections between the cord and the tube. Think about how when you work with concrete, water is a big part of what you’re doing. This means that you now have unprotected electrical connections that can get wet. The canister is also always getting hit by people. If you step on it, the end will come off and all of the electrical parts will spill out into the wet ground. Water and corrosion-resistant NEMA 4X enclosures and water-tight cord grips should have been the very least that should have been done. It would have been better to use solder and crimp caps to make all of the electrical connections instead of wire nuts, which can come loose over time because of vibration from moving (what this thing was built to do). The bend relief on the handle has already broken, so you can see that. It also shows signs of a lot of wear on the base plate after only a few minutes of use, which I wouldn’t expect from a tool for concrete. This machine has only been used for about 150 feet of curbing, which works out to about an hour of use. Many people were not happy. Will try to get back.
