In 20 plus years of running saws for a living I don’t think I have lubed a clutch drum bearing more than 10 times and have never lost a crank, drum, or bearing. The problem with oiling the drum bearing is that oil and dust turn into valve grinding compound. Keep an eye on them though because a bad bearing can cause the drum to run off center.
Any quality grease will do, I am partial to Lubriplate and for wintertime I use Ts Moly TS-67 Arctic Grease. It is spendy at $30.00 a cartridge, but it stays where I put it, and it is pumpable at -67* F. Doesn’t get that cold here, but when regular greases are rock solid, this stuff still flows. I recommend any of TS Moly’s products; small company making excellent greases.
The most overlooked place that has to be greased on a Chainsaw is in a place that most people overlook mainly because they don’t know about it and where it’s at. The inner needle bearing that is on end of crank shaft that is part of the clutch assembly. To access it you have to take the clutch cover off just like you would if were going to change bar and chain, now look at the end of crank and to will see a hole, that hole is there so you can pump some grease in it so your needle bearing can be greased, you use the same grease on it that you use on the end of your bar tip, using same applicator.
