I replaced the factory “Low kickback” chain on my 359 with semi chisel, and other then it cutting faster, I noticed no real difference in what was involved in running the saw safely. I think I already ran/run safe so that’s why I didn’t notice anything. That’s when the thing can get you, regardless of chain.
The old style Oregon Pro Guard chain uses a chisel cutter that is round ground. I had bought it not knowing it was a safety chain and used it up on our.325 bars. I did notice that the guard chains dont carry as much vibration back to my wrists.
On my Stihl 028 gas I use a Stihl Rapid Super chain. I’d say it’s probably a combination of the difference in tooth, more power coming out of the Stihl saw, and the wider kerf/cut of the Stihl. I’m a firewood beginner too…….and I can feel the Stihl pull into the wood more aggresively.
